Long ago, building up my credit, I opened extra credit cards. The best experience I had and continued to experience was with Discover. Always a competative interest rate. Higher, but fair credit limit. Terrific customer service. Very usable and customer friendly website. While I would distribute my consumer spending across cards, for all the reasons above, I favored Discover. If you feel the same as I do, you may grieved the following message:
“Discover is part of Capital One. Starting July 27, you’ll manage this account using the Capital One website and app. You can keep using your card.”
No. No, I can’t. I despise the convergence of all corporations into one megacorp with no real competitive limits on what is good for the consumer or much less the citizen. I am infuriated at usage of our spending data being sold on secondary markets, with no relief present to the consumer. Interest rates are still unreasonably high. No, alas, I think it’s time to move on – likely to little or no credit card spending. After all, it is a tax on both the business and the customer. It’s just digital currency at this point. Discover survived the collapse of Sears, but I guess there can be only three. The convergence will lead to only three domains in the end: Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia.
